Top 3 Police Brutality Cases Against Mothers in Mega-Metro Cities of India Handled by the Crimeophobia Team
By Special Correspondent
India: Police brutality isn’t an unknown fact. However, what makes it painful is when the cops are actively involved in the crimes against vulnerable single-mothers, and the system does nothing to them. In the recent past, the Indian Government had also created the Police Complaint Authority in every state, which is expected to handle cases filed by civilian victims against police officials, including IPS officers. The authority has a formal court with a judge who focuses only on cases against police officials. However, the department is in a state of medical coma—alive, but the body doesn’t function whatsoever.
The cases handled by Crimeophobia are linked to the period before this Police Complaint Authority was fully functional but formed. However, there have been various cases in which the police officials were reported, in which the Authority was mandatorily supposed to send a notice to the officer within 3–4 months. However, that has also taken more than 2 years, in which the notice hasn’t been sent as yet while this authority has a formal provision of having a dedicated Judge to hear cases only against Police Brutalities and Corruptions. The list of cases are massive, however, we list merely three of the cases which were faced by single-mothers of India.
Case 1: A single mother complaining about her daughter’s molestation and her son’s abetment to suicide gets brutally assaulted in front of the main entrance gate of a police station.
The first extreme case was of a single mother with one daughter and one son. The daughter and mother were regularly eve-teased in the vicinity by local goons-turned-politicians. The son tried multiple times to stop them but was always beaten up, and due to the shame of not being able to protect his own sister and mother, he attempted to commit suicide 3 times and was declared dead during the third attempt.
The police never took any FIR (Police Case) against the beatings of the son or the molestation against the daughter and mother, due to which the single mother turned to women’s rights organisations. She managed to get the attention of the women’s rights activist, and with a peaceful protest, they all sat outside the police station gate, which is apparently opposite a major railway station, and the Chief Magistrate Court is merely 500 meters away from the police station.
The goons-turned-politicians, in the middle of the protest yet again managed to publicly humiliate her by painting the single mother’s face with black paint and later also tore her clothes, leaving her semi-naked in front of the police station and in a busy area due to the railway station, and the police couldn’t stop or act against the brutality. The crime, which was carried out in a Mega-Metro City of India, left everyone stunned since the act was recorded with photographs in which the police station gate was clearly visible as well. After several months with no support left for her, the file turned to Crimeophobia, in which a detailed case report was prepared for her, but she was silenced after a few months and wasn’t traceable thereafter.
Case 2: “Brahmacharini who Robbed, Assaulted, Escaped from Police Station: A True Story of Fake Case”. The first book written by Criminologist Snehil Dhall was about these instances of criminal police brutality.
The next most brutal case apparently happened inside the police station and also in the middle of the police station, having 31 witnesses who were all police officers. As per the police version of the story, which they mentioned in the FIR (Police Case), they claimed that the single mother entered the police station in the name of verifying the status of the FIR she had got registered against her husband for domestic violence and kidnapping her only child, who was made to live with the husband’s extra-marital affair girlfriend in another Mega-Metro City in India.
The police claimed in their FIR that the single mother, who apparently is of less than 50 kgs in weight and approx. 5.5 feet tall, entered the police station and started assaulting the police constable, tore his uniform, robbed the police constable’s iPhone and ran away—which had 31 police officials as the witness. The brutality not just had the police officer as complainant, but it also had police as the witness, police as victim and the crime scene also the police station having even the evidence collected by police and FIR again being taken by police, forcefully arrested by them and later staged recovery of the same iPhone by the police. This case was again observed in another Mega-Metro City of India merely to highlight the level of brutality cops can ever get into.
On the flip side, the original story was that the single mother had visited the police station in order to verify her FIR against her husband since she was constantly being threatened. To her surprise, the corrupt police constable was also a pervert mind who was video recording the single mother’s body parts, which eventually she realised, to which she objected majorly, hence framed.
Since she was already in the middle of the police station, there was no option of she calling cops against another cop inside their own police station from where could come to her rescue. Due this reason, she was brutally beaten by police since they couldn’t allow the original story to get leaked. Hence, she called Criminologist Snehil Dhall in major distress, who immediately called the Police Commissioner of the Mega-Metro City and he was majorly shocked as well. While the single mother was taken hostile inside the police station without any lady official and eventually after hours of sunset, the maximum alternative the police commissioner could carry was to make the phone call at the police station and let the lady leave safely without knowing the true facts of the incident. However, the commissioner directed the single mother to meet him the very next morning, but to add on the brutality, as soon as she parked her car at the nearby Government Complex parking where the police commissioner’s office was located, the single mother was arrested from the police commissioner’s parking space to make sure the original story doesn’t come out.
The shameless cops also took one more step in which they called the media and got the case published in regional and national newspapers and channels that the cops recovered the iPhone of a police constable who was robbed from the crime scene, which was the police station. The media who seem to have also been compromised never spoke to the single mother for noting the other side of the story, however, a few media companies deleted the false case news after realising the brutality.
The case eventually headed to the High Court, in which Criminologist Snehil Dhall appeared through Video-Conference (VC) and argued for the quashing from the Mumbai office of Crimeophobia and managed to close the case. The single mother had turned into a Brahmacharini (Female Monk) after her husband’s brutality and didn’t want the world to know, however, at the end Crimeophobia Team had no option but to disclose the fact to the Hon’ble High Court for establishing her innocence. The Hon’ble High Court Judge chose not to defame the police but managed to provide relief for the single mother by quashing the fake and fabricated FIR against her.
Case 3: A cop, known for encounter specialization, rapes a woman at gunpoint after she denies an extra-marital affair that started with a domestic violence complaint against her husband at the police station.
In the third case, the police official who was a known encounter specialist acted much more smartly as compared to others as he initiated his criminal activities in the middle of the police station but accomplished the criminal acts outside the police station premises. In this case, the single mother had approached the police station in order to get the FIR registered against her husband for constant domestic violence. However, in the name of listening to her complaint and giving threats to the husband for the protection of the single mother, the acts carried out by the encounter specialist cop were to have an extra-marital affair with the single mother with consent.
However, when the single mother realised the act wasn’t love but a honey-trap due to anger against her husband, she stopped her consent. The cop started to continue the extra-marital affair with rapes under gun-point thereafter leaving her trapped brutally. To an fortunately unfortunate situation, the lady turned back to her husband with a thought of choosing from the worst men in her life. The husband turned out to be majorly supportive towards her and eventually reached out to Criminologist Snehil Dhall. The acts updated to him were extremely shocking and eventually the Crimeophobia Team initiated its support for the single mother.
The mandate was clear that the single mother isn’t in any position to report an FIR against the encounter specialist since she herself had fallen into the honey-trap created by the cop, and having an extra-marital affair with a cop would not just ruin her life or get her killed but no one will ever accept the fact as well.
Due to this reason, the Crimeophobia Team to a detour and eventually found out that the encounter specialist had the act as his modus operandi in which he had carried similar acts against many women. The team eventually found one of his top police informers, who was his another extra-marital affair girlfriend, and she got convinced in order to file her complaint with top cop officials for registering the FIR against the accused police officer.
The encounter specialist was eventually suspended but not arrested. However, the case was closed since the single mother was saved from the repeated rapes at gun-point and got back to her husband, who also stopped all domestic violence on her. The cost of peace wasn’t easy, but justice was never served to her.
These three chilling cases reveal not only systemic failures, but a horrifying pattern where the protectors themselves are predators. While the Police Complaints Authority remains comatose, the lives of innocent women continue to be shattered. The Crimeophobia Team’s relentless intervention prevented further tragedies—but justice, accountability, and reform remain distant goals in India’s policing structure.
